She was then transferred to our rescue in Maryland and adopted in 2020, but after nearly 2 years, she return back to our rescue.

This was Millie’s writeup when she was first adopted in 2020:

“ Meet Silly Millie! Millie is a 7 yo, 70lb, German Shepard. Millie maybe 7, but she thinks she is a puppy…but without many of the puppy characteristics. She’s leash trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. True to the breed, Millie loves to play just as much as she loves to work. Friendly, loyal, affectionate animated and extremely intelligent Millie loves life! She always has a smile on her face and is ready for the next adventure. Millie is also very grateful, she wants to be with you and share your life.

Millie was HW+ but has been through treatment.

Attributes: an absolute delight. She’s going to do best with an active family/person.
Challenges: barky. Though she doesn’t jump, she is sooooo affectionate and will easily knock down a small child. She needs someone who understands the breed. She likes other dogs and wants to play, but because of her size, she is intimidating to smaller dogs. Absolutely no cats. “

March 2022:

Millie
Surrendered

Millie was returned back to our rescue only to be once again abandoned and given up on because she was food aggressive with a new puppy the family had gotten for Christmas. Millie gave her warnings but the puppy who was learning boundaries ignored the warning and Millie went after her causing great harm and injuries. Since this incident, the family decided to return Millie back to our rescue after they’ve had her for almost 2 years. Although the family claimed they loved Millie and she is a great dog, they thought it best to give her up for the sake of safety concerns having a new toddler and a new puppy in the home. This was the only incident they had with Millie but didn’t want to take any chances with a baby in the house, so here she is once again looking for her FOREVER family. It was discovered that her family after adopting Millie never had her vetted so she was behind on her shots too.

I don’t understand?

Millie needs a family that loves her unconditionally and accepts her as part of the family that understands her worth, her past, and her devoted love and companionship. Millie would thrive in a home as the only queen herself with no competition or worries. Very people loving and wants to be by your side – if you are looking for a sweet senior dog who still has Spunk and lots to offer – Millie is your girl.
