HUMPDAY NEWS FOR 08/28/2019 #015

I was watching the news yesterday and saw a report about a sheepdog running out into the road in front of a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist crashed and had to be Life Flighted to the nearest hospital. This news story has two sides to it. The sheepdog, which was herding sheep at the time and the rider not wearing a helmet. The news report did not go into much detail about the accident.

This emphasizes the necessity for us to be in control of our pets and/or service animals. It also emphasizes the need to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle. Sure the helmet would not have stopped the accident from happening but, possibly the rider would not be in critical condition from a traumatic brain injury.

Let us hope the rider has a quick and full recovery.

Biker critically injured in crash after avoiding dog on Utah highway

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A motorcycle rider is in extremely critical condition after he crashed trying to avoid a sheepdog in the road. Just after 11 a.m., Utah Highway Patrol said a group of motorcycles was traveling on State Route 35 in Summit County about 10 miles west of Hanna when a dog ran onto the highway. Troopers say the dog was helping a sheepherder move a herd to water when it ran toward the road and under the guardrail.
