In part one we learned four ways to get your dog to look at the camera.
This week we will learn 12 tips from a professional photographer, Peaberry Photography. Read the full article at Proud Dog Mom.
- Try to burn off some of their energy. Take a long walk or run. Play a game of fetch or their
favorite game. - Treats and toys will help the dog feel more comfortable. Don’t forget to have some water for them.
- Be patient and creative. Not all dogs are well trained or behaved.
- Try different angles, get down to their level. Zoom in them.
- “Focus on the eyes as a good rule of thumb.” Whiskers and noses can be creative points of focus.
- Use props. A
favorite toy can make open up opportunities for cute poses. - Take your photographs somewhere your dog is comfortable, out in the yard, the park, in an open field. What excites your dog?
- Zoom into your dog instead of getting closer. Try using a burst mode to take a rapid succession of photographs.
- Use a high shutter speed to capture motion. Also, use burst mode to take a rapid succession of photographs.
- Watch your lighting. The same rules or guidelines for taking any photo applies here.
- Smartphones work great at taking wonderful photographs, it is really the lighting that makes a difference.
- Try to reduce camera shake. Take several shots you can select the best ones later.
This Weeks Photo’s

I just love those two black dots on his tongue.
I thought about using Snake Eyes for his nickname, it did not stick. I use Rock for his nickname and it work great.

Captain enjoying a ride in the car with the top down.
The telephone pole is a little distracting and the photo needs to be rotated a little bit.

Walk softly! But carry a big stick!
A lower angle would have made this a better photo. The lower angle would have helped the shadow in the foreground.

Rockey at the beach, Memorial Day
Memorial Day. Even though the angle is not low for this pose it works. To bad there is clutter in the background.

Rocket at the beach,Memorial Day, with his happy face
I do not like the angle and the clutter in the foreground.

Leah and John posing, at Fort Casey, Whidbey Island, Washington.
I like the angle of this shot. The lighting could have been better. Not too bad for an impromptu shot.

Just look at that face.
No doubt he's a Malinois!
He is waiting for just the right moment, to leap up and lick/kiss you. That usually includes a little nibble to the beard or girls hair. (ears too)
This photo captures his intense focus he place on you. There is too much going on in the background. The blanket in the foreground is distracting too.
Stay tuned for Part Three next Tuesday. Please comment below!
