When we were younger Memorial Day was usually spent camping. As the years passed by it has become just a day spent together. Last year we visited Arlington National Cemetery. This year we choose to take the dogs to the beach.
The highway to the beach.
The drive to the beach is down a narrow rural highway. The trees come right up to the edge of the road. It is a nice drive and despite being a big weekend there was hardly any traffic. Parking is the only issue since the parking lot is small. I have been there four times, the first two times parking was not an issue, for the most part we were the only ones there. The last two times parking was a pain. You either have to sit in the car and wait for someone to leave or park on the shoulder.
The hike to the beach is short and not steep. The only spot that might be considered steep is at the very end. I am out of shape and have no trouble going down or up that part. There is a relic, a brick chimney, from the past right before you reach the beach. I keep meaning to research the history of the area.
That should be all of us minus one. Someone had to take the photo.
The dogs had the most fun, I think. We have a few that love the water, a few that tolerate the water, and one that hates the water. Rocky wore himself out retrieving sticks from the water. Leah wore herself out retrieving a ball from the water. The other dogs would go in and out of the water and run back and forth between us.
Overall it was a fun day at the beach! What did you do for Memorial Day, comment below.

The highway to the beach.
Narrow highway with trees right up to the edge of the road.
Just a small part of our pack, human and canine.
I think there was 12 of us there, each with a dog!
A refreshing cool down in the water.
Not all our dogs like the water.
My first thought when I saw this photo was it looks like the Lock Ness Monster!
Rocky enjoyed the water the most!
Look there’s the Monster
I guess it is the lighting, we could see it was Rocky but in the photos its not so clear.
It’s getting closer.
Wait it’s looking more like a dog.
Oh! It’s Rocky with a stick.
Rocky’s favorite toy, a stick! There was a large tree branch floating in the water. He was able to pull but not pick it up.
It would be hard to keep him out of the water.
Rocky got his exercise today.
Look it’s just Rocky
He got a good work out today.
She loves playing in the water.
She loves playing and splashing in the mud puddle at home. I was surprised not seeing any of that playfulness here.
Only a few of the dogs liked the water.
All but one dog would go in the water if led.
Low tide
Everybody spread out doing their own thing.
Leah, Rocky, Smokey, and Jasmine
Leah with the ball, with the other dogs following, wanting the ball from her.
Taking a break from playing.
Found a soft ball, it blends into the sand. Leah’s preferred toys are balls.
Rocky looking handsome as always.
Rocky is a great look German Shepherd Dog.
High up on the beach, he hates getting wet.
He has finally come around to going outside in the rain. Maybe he will come around to going into the water.
That should be all of us minus one. Someone had to take the photo.
Well that’s almost all of us, we had a fun afternoon.
Walking up the beach to the trail.
The tide is rising not much of the beach left.
Brick chimney and concrete floor.
Was this someone’s home at one time?
Unexpected road block!
In a way we rescued these pigs. They were escapees from a nearby home. We ushered them back into their pen and called the home owner, his phone number was posted.

I enjoyed the beach – it was alot of fun. Dogs did great too with no issues at all. We sure got a lot of attention having 12 dogs running around and all listen, stay within their boundaries. Many were so impressed and loves the dogs too.
