Anti-Rant (A compliment to the crew)
I was in Alaska for a couple of days. On the long flight to Alaska, actually Seattle, we were diverted to Billings Montana due to a medical emergency.
I wish to compliment the staff of Alaska Airlines. They were very professional in handling the emergency.
Then there were my fellow passengers. They renewed my faith in humankind. At least from my seat, I did not hear one complaint or any negative comments.
In my opinion, Alaska Airlines made taking care and getting the family members situated a priority, which is good on them. The person that needed medical attention was quickly removed from the plane. It took longer for us to leave than it did for the EMTs to render aid and transport the patient.
Why Tell You About My Flight
Because in the world today there is so much bad news and news of people misbehaving that I wanted to share something positive.
The way the medical emergency was handled was not the only good thing I observed. It seems that in the past stories of people abusing emotional support animal laws and issues stemming from that abuse. Yesterday I saw one family with a small dog in a carrier.
I do not know if the dog was just a personal pet or an emotional support animal, either the dog was well behaved and very quiet and the owner did not let the dog run around.
Owning a dog is influenced by our genetic make-up
Scientists have studied the heritability of dog ownership using information from 35,035 twin pairs from the Swedish Twin Registry. The new study suggests that genetic variation explains more than half of the variation in dog ownership, implying that the choice of getting a dog is heavily influenced by an individual’s genetic make-up.
