Fireworks works are used for many different celebrations, most notably when we celebrate our Independence Day on July 4th.

It all starts out innocent enough, then sometimes without even realizing it, our family dog has disappeared.

Maybe it is the first crackle of a sparkler or the flash of a rocket. Our dog is cowering under our feet or running for cover. Sadly some dogs keep running.
What are we to do, drugs (sedation), confinement, a distraction? Methods and opinions abound. No matter the method we need to be diligent in caring for your dog’s needs. We know our dogs and their personalities.
I personally like the distraction method. Look at how hunting dogs are trained or accustomed to gunfire. They are trained at mealtime and soon learn the loud noise brings a pleasurable result, eating! That is just one of many methods, your mileage may vary.
Please take appropriate steps to safeguard your pets this holiday.
Happy Fourth of July
