What is your favorite dog breed or breeds?
German Shepherd Dogs
Ever since I was a small child I loved German Shepherd Dogs. It was not until I was a young adult that we, my family, had our first German Shepherd Dog. She was AKC registered with excellent bloodlines. She was a wonderful dog. She did have her issues but being very gentle with our children was not one of them. It was not until almost 30 years later that we got our next German Shepherd Dog. We always had other dogs and I think we were waiting to reduce the number of dogs in our home or was it the cost of a registered puppy.
At this time we have five German Shepherd Dogs and two German Shepherd mixes in our home. The German Shepherd Dogs are Leah is our own dog, Gemma is adopted, Princess, and Missy are adopted available for adoption. The German Shepherd mixes are Nova Luna my son’s dog and Rocket a Belgium Malinois.
Brittany Spaniel
When I was first married we got our first dog. He was a Brittany Spaniel. He just loved being with us, he loved car rides, he loved hiking with us, he loved life. For an active person or family, it would be hard to pick a better family dog.
Finnish Spitz
My daughter received a Finnish Spitz for Christmas. When she graduated high school and moved out of the house she could not take her dog with her. Her dog named Angel was very unique and we loved her very much and she was with us for many years.
Has it changed and why?
German Shepherd Dogs was my favorite breed of dog. I now would include the Brittany Spaniel and Finnish Spitz breeds. We have a Belgium Malinois we love him and he loves us, but Malinois’s need extra attention.
My favorite breed has not changed but has expanded.

My favorite breed – well are many. Its not so much the breed as it is the right fit for the person or family. Once that pet or breed has been identify – then I believe that is your favorite breed – right? Whether you go hiking, fishing, boating, hunting one might refer to a savay hunting dog or a high energy dog. On the other hand – perhaps you want a lap dog or a companion dog – therefore, would one get a hunting dog or high energy dog, not so much. So when we talk about what is your favorite breed – my response would be its not so much the breed but the right breed for your family or self and then you’ll have your favorite breed. ❤
