Description:

Hi, I’m Jackson! I am a 4-year-old border collie Australian shepherd mix. I lived with a family from 9 weeks old until 4 years old when I was given up. I have now been with my foster mom for a month. I am a complete love bug with my immediate family (mom/dad/roommate) and warm up fast. However, I am very anxious when it comes to visitors — I bark and sometimes try to nip because I am afraid. I need a lot of training to feel safe and secure.

I also love to be outside and run fast for hours! I need a big fenced-in area to run because sometimes I get lost if I don’t have boundaries. I like to walk on my leash, but get scared and aggressive with other people and dogs when I see them on walks. I get really worked up and will lunge and bark, so I need a kind but firm parent that can help me work with my anxiety. I need a lot of consistent training and correction so that I can learn how to be calm on a leash.

Overall, I am a super amazing, loving boy who is extremely loyal. I need a large yard with a fence and preferably other dog buddies — it takes me a couple of days to warm up to furry companions but I make friends quickly after being afraid at first. My foster mom brought me to her family’s home and I got along with her parents, brother, and 3 family dogs like a charm, and played with their new puppy for hours. I ride in the car with no problem, even though it isn’t my favorite. Having friends, jobs to do, and learning tricks/hide-and-seek/puzzles makes me a happy boy!
