PHOTO TUESDAY FOR 09/10/2019 #016

I stumbled across, it was probably an ad, iPhone Photography School and the following video. Now, I have an Android phone and not an Apple iPhone. How much of this can be used for Android phones? As it turns out almost all of them, I could not test number 7 because my wired headphones do not have a volume control.

iPhone Photography School

1. Swipe to open your camera from the lock screen.

On my Android phone, from the lock screen, I can access my camera two different ways. First, I can double click the power button to launch the camera, or using the lock screen widget I can swipe or slide the widget to launch the camera.

2. Manually set the focus.

Tapping the screen set the focus just as you do on the iPhone.

3. Manually set the exposure.

Now this works a little different on my phone. On my Android when you tap the screen to set the focus an exposure slider pops up on the screen. Just slide the slider to adjust the exposure.

4. Lock focus and exposure.

This works the same way, just tap and hold to lock the focus and exposure.

5. Use burst mode.

There is a setting to turn this on or off. If it us turned on, holding the shutter button down activates burst mode. This is my favorite feature.

6. Take photos from the volume buttons.

This also has a setting to turn this on or off. I only occasionally use this feature. When holding the phone at an odd angle it can be hard to tap the screen, without shaking the phone, to capture the photo. I also use the voice feature and just say “capture” but that does not always work, depending on the background noise.

7. Take photos using the iPhone’s headphone volume buttons.

I was not able to test this. I do not have any wired headphones that have volume control on them. I did try my Bluetooth headphones and it did not work. In the past I have used a Bluetooth shutter button, that work pretty good.
