What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more.

Your home feed is the center of Pinterest. It’s where you’ll find ideas, or Pins, with recommendations based on your interests, as well as what people you follow on Pinterest are saving.

With billions of Pins on Pinterest, you’ll always find ideas to spark inspiration. When you discover Pins you love, save them to boards to keep your ideas organized and easy to find.

Pinterest Basics

  • Home Feed – This is your home screen. You will find pins, people, topics, and boards that Pinterest thinks you will like, based on your recent activity.
  • Pins – These are ideas from other users and around the web. Each pin links back to the website you found it. You can also create Pins by upload images.
  • Boards – Boards are a collection of pins. Boards allow you to organize your pin’s into related subjects. Boards can be public or “secret”. If you create a “secret” board only you and anyone you invite can see the “secret” board.
  • Profile – This who you are! You can find all your pins and boards you created plus anyone you are following or who is following you.

Personally I do not use Pinterest to share my photos. I use the traditional way of pinning an image, that represents an item of interest, to a board.

How To Use Pinterest For Photo Sharing

Consider boards to be your albums and pins are your photos you wish to share.

  1. Create a boards for your photos. Here is where you decide to make it public or secret.
  2. Create pins and save them to the board you created.
  3. Share with friends and family.

That is the simplified version.

This week’s photos. Playing around with the Live Focus feature on my phone’s camera and shooting from a very low angle.
