I thought I knew what a doghouse was. I have seen some pretty fancy dog houses on the Internet. There are several amazing doghouses out there, definitely showpieces. Generally we, at least I did, think of doghouses as being outdoor structures, but there are indoor doghouses. Not just fancy dog crates which some of them are but some do not have doors. I really liked the under the stairs implementations.
Some of the search results are what I would consider dog kennels. Since they popped up in my search and even though I think they are really dog kennels I made a Hybrid Doghouse Board. We sure spoil our dogs!
Why do we build our pets’ dog houses? For the most part, shelter from the elements is the only goal for a dog house. Even the fancier doghouses provide shelter, to some degree or another. Some are more showpieces, yard decorations than practical doghouses, which is fine with me.
No matter the reason for the doghouse, we have a handful of decisions when it comes to building or purchasing a doghouse that should revolve around the comfort of our pet. But I will leave that for another discussion.
